Dr. Janet Hiers graduated from the Medical College of Georgia with her certificate in Periodontics as well as concurrently receiving a Masters in Oral Biology. Dr. Hiers is a diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology and has her certification in IV conscious sedation. Dr. Hiers won 1st place with her research “Evaluation of Nano-Technology Surface Modified Zirconium Oral Implants in a Rabbit Model of Trabecular Bone”, in the Billy M. Pennel Graduate Student Research Award Competition. This competition includes most southern states. Dr. Hiers is a member of the American Academy of Periodontics, Southern Academy of Periodontists, Georgia Society of Periodontist in which she is currently serving as President, the Academy of Osseointegration, American Dental Association and the Georgia Dental Association. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Hiers serves as part-time faculty in the Department of Periodontics at Georgia Regents University working exclusively with the periodontal residents at the VA hospital in Augusta, GA. Dr. Hiers has over 25 years of experience in dentistry.
